Post Event Report – Third Annual Multilateral Relations Conference, London 2019

The Westminster Russia Forum is proud to announce the success of our Third Annual Multilateral Europe – UK – Russia Relations Forum in London!

With some 180 attendees from across a wide range of industry sectors, delegates gathered at the offices of Pinsent Masons in London to debate and assess both the strategic and practical areas of our multilateral relationships. From reputational management, banking, law, politics and culture to sports and education our 22 speakers discussed the positive foundations of our ties. Here are some key takeaways:

• 180 senior level delegates – the forum is now the premier platform for those seeking a better relationship
• 22 international speakers from Belgium, Russia, Germany, Switzerland & the UK
• Business is the best diplomat – key message of support for equitable trade ties that transcend political differences with a marked increase in Europe – Russia trade ties
• Culture is above politics – ties are strong and growing – from sport and culture to interfaith ties people to people relations are growing each year
• We have a basis for good future ties – aside the high politics and headlines we have more that binds us than divides us
• British legal norms are the major foundation for practice in the CIS
• In lieu of high political ties our multilateral relationships have become both functional and proactive• The World Cup was a major turning point in people to people relations
• There is some hope that bilateral visa regimes will adapt to allow e-visa for British citizens
• Education / R&D / high-tech cooperation is on the increase

All in all the conference was a great success – with nearly 200 attendees and top notch content the conference and the Westminster Russia Forum is now the go-to platform for those seeking to improve ties.
