Introducing the Russian Arctic Convoys Museum Project Loch Ewe Festival!

The Loch Ewe WWII Festival will take place on the 6th and 7th May in the Highland villages of Poolewe and Aultbea. Itl will include performances from the much acclaimed D-Day Darlings, and the Highland Swing Band. There will also be re-enactments from The Northern 40s Re-enactment Group and the Thirteenth Guards Poltavaskaya rifle division living history group, who will be bringing an original Soviet T-34 tank.  The Vintage Beauty Parlour will be offering 1940s hair and make-up to festival visitors (we will be offering prizes on both days to the best dressed festival attendee), and there will be a Movie Night, where we will be showing the classic musical, “South Pacific”.

The National Trust for Scotland and Sealife Glass Bottom Boat have also created a combined package for festival goers that allows entry to the world famous Inverewe Gardens, includes a tour of Inverewe House, and a 45-minute boat trip on Loch Ewe.

We are hoping for a significant Russian presence at this event.  Arrangements are currently underway for Russian sea cadets to vist Loch Ewe. They will be sailing from St Petersburg on the Yunyi Baltiets. Three Russian WWII veterans are also expected to attend.

Lots more remains to be announced, so anyone interested in attending the festival should keep an eye on our website and Facebook page.
